Why Join the PTA?

There are many great reasons to join the PTA, most importantly by joining the PTA you are supporting your child and Strawtown.

How Do You Join the PTA?

​

• PTA Registration is online for 2022/2023.

  • Just click the PTA Membership Registration button to the right.​

• If you do not have access to a computer please contact Lauren Wohl for assistance.

  • A computer will be set up at the greeters desk during Meet the Teacher on 9/26 & 10/3 from 7-8:30 for your convenience.

Where do Your Dues Go?

​

Strawtown PTA membership costs $10. If additional people in your family wish to join the PTA, and gain a vote, each additional person is an additional $8. 

 

$4 of each membership is sent to NYS PTA/National PTA, the remainder goes directly to Strawtown PTA and the programs and activities we provide.

 

Do you know the many ways PTA fundraising benefits Strawtown and it's students? Funds the PTA raises through membership and other activities benefit your children and the school in many ways. In addition to student programs such as the many Cultural Arts events, which are run as part of the student's school day, the PTA has donated improvements to the school. Recently the PTA purchased new IPads and Chromebooks for Strawtown's classrooms and in previous years has donated improvements to the playgrounds, curtains to for the stage and much more. The PTA, as part of the scholastic book fair program, annually donates books to teacher's classrooms and the library. There are so many ways the PTA works to benefit our school and community. Are You Obligated to Participate?

​

No. You will have the opportunity but not obligation to participate in meetings, voting or volunteering at events.

​

When and Where are PTA Meetings?

​

PTA Meetings will be held once a month, on a Monday, at 7:00pm. All meetings are held in the Strawtown Cafeteria.

How Can I Participate if I Want?

​

There are many ways to participate.

• The easiest is to just join the PTA. Your dues are a significant source of PTA funding.

• Attend PTA meetings, participate and have a voice in what the PTA does each year.

• Volunteer to help with PTA sponsored events, activities or fundraisers. Refer to the PROGRAMS, FUNDRAISERS, EVENTS tab for more details including key contact people, event dates and help needed.

• Join a committee, each event, fundraiser, or program is planned and run by a committee of Strawtown parents.

• Become a PTA Board Member and help to run the PTA itself. All PTA board members are actively involved in events, fundraisers, and programs as well.
